Every once in a while, we all have to step back and look at the big picture; to see what lies beyond us, where we truly belong, what we really are….and, sometimes, we just need to know where to slap down a city. Today’s update is going to look at how we do one of those things, and it’s not the first three. That’s right, today, Mars is talking about map-making.

Dave here once again to bring you Wednesday’s NCFC update. In the spirit of an NCFC Workshop, I’ll be discussing the basics of the implementation of the battle system. All you game developers lend an ear. You might learn something, or you maybe you’ll think I’m crazy! In either case, I’d love to hear your feedback in the comments.

My apologies for the lack of updates earlier this week. We meant to have one out on Wednesday, however due to unfortunate circumstances, we were all pretty busy with other things that day. But anyway, here’s another sampling of what Mother 4 has to offer in the music department. Click on past the break to jam it up!

So. We’ve been at this for over two years now. But! We’re still in the “alpha” phase. That means things are subject to change at any given moment.

Well, one of those moments is now. (I guess it was actually some time ago. But for you it’s now!)

I’d like to present you with some of the changes taking place in this project. Some of which you may have already noticed. (If you have a keen eye.)

We have a new visual style! You might think, “Woah Mother 4 Team! You’ve really outdone yourselves!” or maybe you’re more likely to think, “Hey Mother 4 Team! Your new style sucks eggs!” But either way, we still think you’re pretty cool. We’ve created this new style to really set us apart from Mother 3 which our previous style was heavily influenced by. We think this new style will help us make that extra step from 3 to 4. Not only is this new style easier to work with, it’s also 100% custom-made with love and care. Have a look for yourselves:

Mother 4 may not have a true NCFC (Nintendo Community Fangame Convention) booth, but we don’t aim to disappoint.

Keep an eye out this week. As you may know, the NCFC actually began and midnight last night, but like last year, Mother 4 will be running a series of updates. Don’t expect an update every single day, but expect what you do see to be big in days to follow. Stay tuned, fans!
