Concept ArtHello everybody! This is Mr. Mars here with my first post on the blog! It is a momentous occasion, and I am utterly thrilled to know you are all here to experience it with me.

It’s a delicate process to compile a concept art update, mainly because 99 percent of everything I do is strictly confidential. The concepts are meant for games, not for hype. It’s kind of frustrating in that manner, as all the really cool stuff that I’d love to show off has to be kept under wraps until the game’s release. Still, I think concept art is an interesting subject, and I’m sure none of you would object to more goodies- even if it’s just a taste of what’s to come.

In trying to come up with a way to spoil you all without spoiling you all, I have decided on 4 images to show off just three of the many types of concept art it’s my job to produce.

Music: Stitch gained a level!

I’m posting this on Stitchs behalf while he’s away in Florida. We have a nice little treat for you guys today. Rather than just handing you a song, we’re revealing one of the more subtle systems that makes the game unique: the level-up jingles!

One of the most notable things about the Mother series has always been its music, and having the SNOBODYS on board has really been a blessing, making sure one of the most delicate features of the project is right where it needs to be. Stitch and I were having a conversation about how each character in Mother 3 had their own “instrument” for when they attacked, and how it really put some more soul into the game. After toying with this idea a little bit, I came up with the brilliant idea to expand on this, and this is one of the results.

Changes Part II / Project overhaul

Changes

Remember the “Changes” post, where we said things were subject to change at any time? Consider this part two. As you’ve read, we were in the “alpha” phase, where everything was subject to change. To be more specific, that was chiefly regarding our storyline. In that regard, consider us in the “beta” phase for content. That is to say, we now have a finalized story, and other things of the like, which means I’m playing manager, and shifting gears to dialogue and other stuff, rather than assembling the core story.

Update: Postal service!

Zephys here. We’re lining up a few updates for you guys, and it looks like I’m the first to the plate. After much debate, we’ve decided to reveal one of the major features of Mother 4—The mail system!

While Mother 4 doesn’t necessarily take place in a certain time period, it is a world where the course of technology is a bit different from our own. While there are telephones, ATMs, and other modern conveniences, there’s a strong respect in its communities for the dedicated service of the postal system.
