@ Blue: Fair enough. I see your point. I guess I probably was blinded some by being a fan, and I think illuminating these issues may help avoid these issues in the future (that is, if there is the desire to do so). I cannot think of any reasonable objections to your argument.

Blue made that post by my own silly comments?
I FAILED EVERYONE! WAHHHHH.... :(
Now my enthusiasm is brought down by Mr Juicy, scytheholder AND Blue. I guess everyone hates me now.

I thought that my comment spoke for itself and didn't really want to cite specific examples in the hope that it would make my criticism a little more positive.I don't want to seem overly negative in what I write here, but I doubt another carefully worded comment will give you the answer you want.

The creation of the site was a poor decision. Read back through a year of comments and updates and ask what the purpose of the site is. Besides fan updates, the posts refer to: a trailer that was never released, clay art, NCFC, an apology for the NCFC not being finished, an engine overhaul that set development back, creation of the Facebook page, a computer crash that set development back, and a site update. If it weren't for "fan submissions" there wouldn't really be much to this site at all.

Anyone that's followed a fan project, like Tomato's Mother 3 translation, should know that the projects that actually get finished usually refuse the kind of overexposure that this site has given. That overexposure, including the creation of the Facebook page and attempt at making a fan community for a non-existant game, are reflective of an immature attitude that places form before substance. In the world of fan games where it's so uncommon for a project to see completion it shows a real lack of humility.

I was inspired to make this post by the criticisms I saw for Sidney Mak's comments. It's ridiculous to fault someone for feeling like they have some kind of input in the game when you ask them for that input in the first place. I've seen a few other posters go through the same process of coming in with a lot of enthusiasm to have others explain to them that "the truth is maybe only like 0.5% (or none at all) of fan submissions is actually used." (thanks Niya) You're promising too much by asking the fans for these submissions in the first place. Since the majority of this site is made up of those submissions, it seems like a fairly large mistake.

I think I've seen enough in a year of updates to this site to make these criticisms. I do have love for the project, especially what's been released for the project's official music, and I would hope that any developer would be open to an honest assessment of their work.

@ Blue: You say that they've made poor decisions on the project, but due to the scarcity of the material they've revealed, in addition to basically stating that all we've seen is outdated and not reflective of what the project currently looks like, I think that your claim is probably not a fair one to make. Though perhaps I misunderstand what you mean by "decisions." If I do indeed misunderstand what you mean and therefore fail to address your statements, please let me know.
With regards to promising too much to the Mother series' community, would you mind elaborating? What specifically have they promised us that is "too much?" I believe the objective of the project was to make a fan game as close to a real sequel as possible, and that is all that they've promised. Once more I must emphasize that very little of the work on the project has been made available to the community, and what is available is most likely out of date. Therefore, nobody is elegible to evaluate whether or not the creators have promised too much since nobody knows what they are capable of.
An immature attitude? I have a feeling that being all-business all the time would be a huge drain on the creators and would lessen morale. Additionally, you don't know what sort of approach they take when actually doing work on the project. Again, I think this claim is invalid due to paucity of information available to the general public.
Lack of humility is an issue you have? Could you please cite an example so I can evaluate the claim? Perhaps my enthusiasm for this game has blinded me to a lack of humility, but it would be nice for me see an example of that to which you are referring.
I am not claiming the opposite of what you say is true (after all, I myself said that any sort of evaluation on these issues is unfair), but what you say cannot be proven true.
Let's see what these guys are made of before we start with the criticisms, okay? :)

I really have high hopes for this project but I've seen so many poor decisions being made in the material presented on this website that I have real doubts. I think the creators promise too much to the Mother series' community, their attitude toward the development of the game is immature, and it was a serious mistake to take open submissions from fans.

I would suggest to the creators that they reevaluate their development strategy and take a more humble approach in presenting their work. I've made this criticism as constructive as I can. When you work on a project of this nature, making an unauthorized sequel to a popular game, you open yourself to this kind of criticism, so please take it in good humor.

Good luck everyone.

I'm afraid to tell you that your the one acting more like a troll than I am, I am simply complaining about your behavior and arrogance, whereas you're complaining about my viewpoint. Now drop the subject, maybe the next update will come sooner...

I did enjoy the Persistent Beggar idea by Fandangox. But as a side not, and really not a huge deal, I would prefer his grammar were a tad bit better for a good impression (rereading a joke for comprehension is not funny). Minor.

Funny Money did not seem to have.. character. How about, "Funny Money thought it was real, but it didn't matter."

Great work Fandangox.

To scytheholder:
You know, if it were me watching an annoyance on the comments section, I'd just keep the grumbling to myself and not bother about it.
But Mr Juicy INSISTS to post flaming comments just because I posted one too many comment! Cmon! I'd call THAT troll behavior, even if you don't!
Hold on, let me catch my breath.*chills out*
And yes, I have to agree with you it was quite a while since last update. I wonder what Chaisu and co. are doing right now?
